Client: The Salvation Army
Currently in design
The Salvation Army tasked Aptus with designing a Family Services Center so that they may continue to serve the local community with a food bank and related office space. Existing buildings on site at their property on Cheyenne in North Las Vegas were outdated and ill-suited for the future
The proposed complex is divided into two phases, with the first phase including food bank and career services offices, truck dock, receiving area, cold storage, dry storage, as well as the food bank pickup area. This program is approximately 13,000 sf in area. An additional area of approximately 5,000 sf is included in the masterplan for future Family Services offices
The building complex has been designed to reflect the local community and neighborhood aesthetic, as well as the adjacent Salvation Army-run elderly housing development. Stylistic references to the previous buildings on site are also included in the design. By varying the roof line and materials, the mass of the building is broken down and presents a more pleasant and interesting face to the street.
