Salvation Army Performing Arts Academy & Chapel Renovation

To uplift at-risk youth, the Salvation Army aimed to turn a dated, vacant preschool into a newly funded, vibrant music facility in an area where music education as ceased to exist. Aptus was hired to design a multi-phased project to incorporate the renovation of existing buildings and construction of a new building. A master site plan was designed by collaborating with specialty consultants to provide the client with every option possible to deliver this project to fit their needs. Phase 1 involved the renovation and re-purpose of existing classrooms into the Music Academy for the Education Wing of the campus. Phase 2A required Aptus to redesign the envelope of the Salvation Amy Sanctuary located in the middle of the site, with interior improvements. Care was taken to maintain the integrity of the structure, as the site is located on a sloping hill built in the 1970s. Phase 2B construction brought a new addition that will house the recording studios on the lower level and extend the existing church on the upper level.
